Graduate program
The UALR/UAMS Joint Graduate Program in Bioinformatics, offering both Masters and Doctorate degrees, was approved by the Board of Directors of the Arkansas Department of Higher Education (ADHE) on October 22, 2004.
Graduate programs
Application to the bioinformatics graduate program is handled by the UALR Graduate School; please see their website for prospective students.

Applications for admission to the program are considered twice per year:

Entry Semester Application Deadline Notification Date
Fall Feb. 1 Mar. 15
Spring Sept. 10 Oct. 15

The Deadline requires submission of all items identified below; students will be notified of admission status by the UALR Graduate School on or before the Notification date. Except as noted below, all communication concerning submission of application materials and queries concerning admission status should be addressed to the UALR Graduate School.

Applicants are required to submit:
  • Transcripts
  • Three letters of references
  • GRE scores (general test only)
  • A Statement of Intent describing the student's reason for applying and career aspirations.
  • International students who have not matriculated from a college or university in a country whose primarily language is English must also submit TOEFL scores.
Undergraduate minor
UALR's Undergraduate Minor in Bioinformatics was approved late in the Spring 2004 semester. Jointly offered by the Biology and Information Science Departments, it is intended for students majoring in biology, computer science or information science; students with other majors are welcome but they may need to take additional courses to complete the minor requirements. This program is administered by the Information Science Department.
